Your Nutritionista: Monday Must-Read: Is Junk Food... →
nutritionista:
I’m always fascinated by articles like this one, furiously trying to refute the argument that junk food is cheaper than home-cooked food. In his latest New York Times column, Mark Bittman breaks down the cost of a meal at Micky D’s versus homemade fare:

I want a friend who will help me build a giant fort. We’ll fill it with tons of pillows and blankets, then lay inside and read good books, eat snacks & just talk and talk and talk.
and laugh.

I’ve come to appreciate what a beautiful campus we have at Berkeley, and lately I’ve just been walking and staring wide-eyed at the buildings or trees or weird students. Occasionally I’ll just stop in my tracks and start snapping a bunch of photos on my camera.
Sometimes I wonder if I come across as a freshman or tourist when walking around campus.

Sometimes I’d stand on the tracks, staring out into the distance wondering if anything was headed my way. I would stare at the rails that eventually receded to a point, wondering what faraway lands they led to. The thrill of uncertainty, of potentially losing everything in a second, made my heart flutter unlike anything else.

Chalk & chalkboards: I’m not really sure when this one came around, but this is probably my one true, interferes with my life kind of fear. Once my friend pretended to scratch a chalkboard while I was in the room, and I started to freak out and cry. Yeah…it’s that bad.

Taking a look back

For some reason, I wish every semester was like Spring 2010.
Everything felt refreshed and new at that time.
That’s cause it’s when you first met me….

always intellectual
Me: Yeah we kind of hit that delirious, we've-been-studying-all-day kind of point and I told my friend to pass me something and he screamed, "No!"
Me: So I went, "IMPERIO!"
Me: He responded by saying, "Crucio", so I avada kedavra-ed him.
Me: Then he yelled, "EXPECTOOOO PATROOOONUUMMM!" Harry style, all dramatically like in the movie.
Kristina: ... that doesn't even make any sense.
Kristina: A normal person would have just said, "Accio".

I came home and did the dishes. Then I was determined to reorganize our pantry, which I kind of sort of did. After this I’m going to take out the trash & recycle, then wipe down our counters, our table, and possibly clean my desk.
Will this make up for not going to the gym?

perspective
I’ve been feeling kind of strange lately. I’m afraid I’ve become a boring person inundated with stress and uncertainties about the future, about the present, about things I’ve done in the past. Those fears have been preventing me from going out and doing things, and I’ve become too comfortable with my immobility.
I looked through all my tagged photographs and...
