I’m always fascinated by articles like this one, furiously trying to refute the argument that junk food is cheaper than home-cooked food. In his latest New York Times column, Mark Bittman breaks down the cost of a meal at Micky D’s versus homemade fare:

fall = pumpkin & cinnamon everything
peach cream cakes: white cake, vanilla bean pastry cream filling, peaches topped w brown sugar/oatmeal streusel and sugared almonds (by jaslynr)

Cook rice.
Meanwhile:
melt butter in frying pan
thinly slice onions
Add to pan
Mince garlic
Add to pan
Add curry powder
Add flour (to thicken)
Add hot water/vegetable stock
Add whatever vegetables you want
Cube chicken breast
Season with salt & pepper
Fry until almost thoroughly cooked
Add to curry
Make sure your chicken gets cooked all the way
Taste and adjust according to preferences
(I added cumin)
Serve over rice.
